Psalm 23New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Lord, the Psalmist’s Shepherd.

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

  5. I appreciate this Psalm so much more after Jared's sermon a few weeks ago. How the Lord cares and provides for us no matter what just like a shepherd does for his sheep. He knows just what we need. When we need it. And not to give us more than we need.

  8. Though I don't comment on every book this one is especially pertinent to my life. I have always read and needed the 23rd Psalm to keep me on the straight and narrow when I've been tempted. Now I can read it in a different light. How very blessed I am to have God in my life and how I depend on His
    love. Simply a compelling Psalm for me. Helps me determine to study Gods word more and more often. For where would I be without Him.

  9. seems like I've heard a sermon on this psalm recently...So wonderful to be in His flock and in His family. May we all dwell in the house of the lord forever.

  10. Not much else needs to be said about this psalm. It pretty much says it all.
